Tari is an original member of Sibylla. She is from Hamilton, Ohio and has been a singer all her life, at least as long as she can remember. Her first official solo was in sixth grade. She continued to sing every chance she got: with friends, at camp, in the car, at school, and other places.
Tari was not allowed by her slightly old-fashioned parents to learn trumpet in fifth grade, but got back at them later by playing tuba in concert band her senior year of high school. Her good friend (and the only other tuba player in the band) John Nackhla wrote the fingerings on her sheet music, because at the time, bass clef was way beyond her musical abilities. (She has since learned to read bass clef passably well, in order to play the keyboard.) John was also a very talented bass guitar player and she now wishes she had picked up that instrument because she could use it in her latest musical endeavor. Tari and her guitar-playing friend Jonathan Lochhaas (he’s also a great singer) have formed a duo of sorts. They hope to soon be appearing at various open mic nights around town.
At Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Tari sang solos for her Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority sisters and studied math. She did not study music at college but has picked up a lot of musical knowledge in the university of life, which she has been attending for many years now. She especially wants to thank her voice teacher, Dorothy Kingston, "You changed my life!" Dorothy taught her that with good technique comes great freedom. In addition to serious shower-singing, Tari has been a member of Cathedral Choral Society for more than 10 years. That is where the original Sibylla members’ paths converged.
Tari spends her days taking care of her four children and stealing time for rehearsal. She is very lucky that her extremely supportive and understanding husband, Mike Scott, helps take care of the kids so that she can sing here, there, and everywhere.
